Our World Tuesday

Chicago Beaches and Lake Michigan

This year Lake Michigan is over 90%  covered with ice which is a record.  We have had, so far, the coldest winter on record, the most snow days on record and the 3rd most snow on record ... are we ready for Spring? Yes, but I can't walk away from this winter without a sense of awe.  It has been a beautiful winter ... a winter that we will all remember.

I've been reading about this!!! Your photos are terrific!! I've got to stop whining about our winter in Oregon which has been mild in comparison!! Take care, stay warm!!

Lovely photos, and I can't wait to see that same beach in the summer.

Beautiful photos!!! I face timed with a friend in Winnipeg CA this morning. They have six feet of snow in her yard… she took her computer outside and showed me… I couldn't believe it!

Beautiful and I really admire your attitude. I don't think I could do that after all that cold. The pictures are just incredible. The one with the silhouette of the kids walking is wonderful. WEll they all are.

Beautiful pictures! I find it quite ironic, as a norwegian, that I'm living in "that cold winter fairytale country" (which it really can be), and this winter we've had only two days with snow and real winter... So you are lucky, you really are, with your fantastic winter!

They are all beautiful, especially the second and the last one - those were my favorite. I see by your entry on Miss Edna's blog that you have a birthday of some sort coming up?

Some impressive weather stats and equally impressive photos Andrea. I admire your stoicism in the face of such weather but I'm rather pleased that Spring has arrived here in the UK.

Oh I could walk away...easily. I lived far too many years in the foothills of Colorado where the first snowfall in September lasted in the shadows of buildings and trees up until May of the following year...with numerous snowfalls on top of the first!! I like living in the far south.

But, must agree, it's beautiful!!---through the computer monitor.

Beautiful pictures! Especially the beach images! We had the warmest winter ever…no snow down at the Lake Geneva which is very unusual.

There is a stark beauty to Winter. It can be so harsh, even cruel, that we sometimes don't see the beauty therein.

ah, that´s a beautiful snowy beach. Seems like it is not that much snow even if it is cold. All our snow is gone by now where I live.
