Wild Bird Wednesday #39
Link to "Paying Ready Attention"
I am stepping back today ... going to the Ranch where we started our trip. While we were watching the Prairie Chickens and their marvelous dance, a little stranger flew into the mix. It was hard to tell what it was at first because it is small (compared to the Prairie Chickens) and it wasn't until it turned it's head and I saw the yellow that I knew it was a Meadowlark. In this case a Western Meadowlark. I know that it is a Western only because our guide pointed out that the song is different from the Eastern and that is what she was hearing out there this morning. They actually have both the Eastern and Western in their area and the only way to tell them apart is by listening to their song ... Boy, I learned so much on this trip. What a joy!
