Photo Art Friday

Photo Art Friday

For this prompt I got into some of my collections and created different still life's with mostly the same background initially.  Then I used different textures to give each one it's own look.

The first still life is of a sculpture that was done by Marvin Martin a professor and head of sculpture in the Art Department at the university where I grew up.  He was a family friend and his daughter was my friend until she passed away last year.  The sculpture was done in the 1950's.

For all of the still life's, I tweaked with my usual routine in PSE of  levels, brightness/contrast, hue/saturation.  On this one I added pdpa Presence @ 74% and used the mask/brush at 100% on the sculpture and 40% on the candle.

This is an old Tea Tin and a old powder compact.  I did my usual PSE tweak then used the selection brush on the background and darkened it using brightness/contrast.  Added pdpa Morning Glory texture at 22% and then mask/brush.  I brushed out the tin, the compact, the flower and the doily.

This is a set of old invalid cups, used in Victorian days to feed soup and/or medicine to sick patients or family members.  Tweaked as above with PSE.  Used pdpa rain drops @ 80 and mask brush to brush out most of the water except on the cups.  Pdpa Peachy Texture @90% in the background, mask/brush on the flower and invalid cups in the back then used the clone stamp to even out the juncture and bring the Peachy Texture down the side.

This is a pattern glass oil lamp from the early 1900's.  After tweaking, I used the clone stamp to make duplicates.  Pdpa Aurora Overlay at 71%. Mask/brushed the first lamp at 93%, the second lamp at 42% and the third at 15%.

This is the original of my Dumbo Cookie jar, circa 1990's. :)  Dumbo was my security blanket (toy) when I was little and he has stuck with me until this day.

The usual tweak then pdpa Morning Glory. PSE Filter Poster edges.  Mask/brush ... brushed out dumbo and a line of light. Finished off with Be Funky Viewfinder.

I love the mask/brush technique, but I need to explore other options so I took Dumbo back to PSE and ...

liquefied him.  Poor Dumbo ...
All the king's horses and all the king's men ... oops, wrong poem.  Well, have a wonderful week anyway :)

Photo Art Friday

At first I was a little perplexed by the prompt, then it came to me that I do a lot of pictures with light because I am addicted to capturing things being bathed in sunlight.  So, I have picked a few of my favorites for today's post.

Original ...

I tried using textures on this one, but I seemed to keep losing the look I wanted so I took it over to Foto Flexer, used Lomoish, film grain and added a frame.  Maybe, when I gain more experince with the textures, I will be able to do more.

This time I took him to "BE FUNKY"  a new editor I found on line.  I used a
cross process, then added the "featured effect"( what ever that was) then cartooner and finally a grunge frame.  Not what I would ever have expected to do with this picture (which I love), but I think it turned out rather fun.  :)

Original ... A spider web in the woods with a beam of sunlight coming through the trees.  It is like God shinning a spotlight on the miraculous work of the spider.

This one I took over to Pic Monkey and did the daguerreotype under frames.

Here I added pdpa Green Glaze then took it to Pic Monkey effects, cross process and boost.  A film edge for a frame ...

I took one more shot with the Spider Wed on Be Funky... effects Pop Art, then a basic border at 56%.

original ...

This may be my favorite ... I added pdpa elevate at 53%, then PS dry brush. Took it to Pixr-O
-Matic effects, cross process, antonio.  Frame, drop shadow and basic border.

I hope you aren't bored yet because I have one more effort.  This is a Dumbo cookie jar that I set on the floor in the sunlight.

In PS I added pdpa blue chiffon, used the magic eraser to splotch it then the filter Cut Out.  Took it to Be Funky for a drop shadow and basic border frame.

And finally (a sigh of relief ), In PS I added pdpa Lavender Halo at 55%.  Used the eraser to remove it from the Dumbo, then added the filter Sumi-e.  Be Funky for the Postage Frame.

Didn't mean to get carried away ... hope you were able to find something you liked among these.  I look forward to seeing all of your posts. :)
