NatureFootstep Abstract

I feel that the interpretation of an abstract is a personal choice and is often the function of the mood or experience of the beholder.  Thus I offer you a choice of strong versus

 gentle depending on your mood.
I feel that, in this New Year, we will need both strength and gentleness ... My wish is that each comes to you as needed and serves you well in fulfilling your hopes.
  Happy New Year!

Weekend Reflections

I spotted this reflection while returning from a walk with my dog ... it is my neighbor's lights reflecting off of my son's boat parked in my driveway.  It was too good to pass up :)  The boat is for sale, by the way, if anyone is in the market :)

The Day After ...

This is me, the day after.  The wheels are still turning, but the body wants to throw in the towel.  And, tomorrow I have to do a repeat Christmas for my Granddaughter.  So, what I am trying to say is ... if you don't hear from me for a few days it is because I have either spun out of control or I am tucked away in a corner somewhere trying to regroup!  Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas ... looking forward to the New Year with all of my blogging friends.  It should be a good year, if this year is any indication :)  Wishing you all some happy recuperation days .... Bing Crosby & David Bowie - Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy 1977

In the lyrics of this song, the singer relates how, as a poor boy, he was summoned by the Magi to the Nativity where, without a gift for the infant Jesus, he played his drum with the Virgin Mary's approval, remembering "I played my best for Him" and "He smiled at me".(Wikipedia)

art by Jon Baldwin
"Peace on Earth, Can it be?"
"Every Child must be made aware ..."
"Every Child must be made to care ..."

It is my prayer on this special celebration of the Birth of Christ, that we all find peace and love in our hearts and lives and that, in doing so, we engender the hope for Peace on Earth.

Merry Christmas, Everyone ...

Mandarin Orange Monday

My MOM post is a day late for me, though it is still Monday here.  I chose to do a Snow Flake because we have a beautiful White Christmas this year for the first time in awhile ... it may also represent my subconscious awareness that at this time of year, I am a real flake, flitting from place to place trying to get things done.

So, to all of my MOM friends out there, I am wishing you the flakiest of Holidays ... let it be fun! But, let us not forget the miracles that surround us ... bless them all.  Happy Holidays!

Camera Critters

Four year old imprinted male Barred Owl ... Cared for by the Northern Illinois Raptor Center

An imprinted raptor cannot be released from captivity because they considers themselves human since that is the first thing they saw when they opened their eyes.  What this means is that they will interact with humans the same way they would with their own species in the wild ... attacking you if you intrude in their territory or attempting to mate with you ... Either of these actions being very dangerous for both humans and the birds.   Thus, they are placed in a center and used for education.  Not the life they would prefer or we would prefer for them, but the only life they know.  It is up to us to provide quality of life.

NatureFootstep Abstract

I love creating abstract art, at least I think I do.  It may be that I love doing it because I am not really good at drawing or painting in realism.  So I saved this picture from the group I was doing for MOM because it seemed to fit "NatureFootstep Abstract".  Hope you like it ...
Stay warm (or cool) whichever the case may be:)
