Wordless Wednesday

Shhh ... I'll be quiet, but I can't be wordless.  This weekend is Easter and these little cuties are at risk.  They are in a feed store to be sold to farmers who will allow them to lead the life of a chicken .... But, they are sooooo cute.  Someone is going to want to buy then to put in their kids Easter basket.  If that happens they won't live well ... in fact they probably won't live long at all.  Use your good sense ... Yes, they are cute, but they are not meant to be pets.  Be kind ... (and pass the word on :)

I am glad it is a feed store. Their chance of being a chicken is better there than a pet store, with the bunnies and ducklings. I did a post on this topic, "Novelty" Pets, last week. People need to think long term. There are the needs and lifespan of the animal to consider. This is something I am passionate about, as you know.

They are indeed cute. And deserve respect - and a life, not an existence. We are singing the same song here (despite the fact that I can't hold a tune).

Well said - this is a message that needs to be told over and over again. I don't think giving an animal as a gift at anytime is appropriate - it is a serious decision and needs to be made by the person who will care for it.

Andrea... I'm playing catch up this morning before my doctor appointments, but thank you for visiting on McGuffy Ann's recommendation. It's always a pleasure to meet new bloggers. Now...I didn't know they sold chicks at Easter. I have seen the bunnies up for sale, but not chicks. My question is for the few chicks that make it to adulthood, what do parents do with a grown chicken? Chicks are cute, chickens not so much. Don't parents think of the obvious here? My grandparents had hens which means chicks in the spring and I would chase after them in hopes of catching one. I never did! lol Happy Easter! BTW, I am now following you. :)

The chicks are beautiful! A good post, Andrea. Pet shops should not be allowed to even carry these little fellows. Besides, it is more fun to watch them play and grow on a farm. I loved your image of the Steed. I think it's one of your best yet. Pogo and I are off to find some yarn this morning. Here's hoping we come home with a nice big bag full of just what we are looking for.

Again, we wish you and Izzi a fabulous weekend. Take lots of photos, and have fun. Have a great day my friend, hugs, Edna B.

You're kidding! People do that? Unbelievable. I hope not. I hope they get sold to a lovely acreage with a wonderful, scratchable organic garden and a palace of a chicken coop. :)

They are cute. I can remember when people use to buy them dyed different colors for kids at Easter. Thankfully our parents never got us any.
