I love going to the State Park. I usually manage to see things I don't normally see on the lake. Or at least I can get a better close up look at them because the wetlands are much smaller.
The Blue Wing Teals come through every year ... some stay but most move on.
Funny how the female ducks look so much alike. They each have a little subtle difference that the males obviously recognize, but other than that, it is very hard to tell them apart, especially at a distance.
The Wood Ducks stay until fall migration. They are beautiful ... after awhile all we see is the females and their little string of ducklings following them around. I have no idea where the males disappear to.
And there are always the Canadian Geese and even a little painted turtle ...
What a relaxing way to spend a day ...
Have a great week everyone !

i get those on my pond - except for the canada geese - darn it! :)
Yes is is a wonderful relaxing way to spend a day in a lovely place looking at all the duck and geese.
The Teal are so striking. Of course, I love them all. Migration was so unusual this year, it was fun to see the ones we did. So many were "missing in action".
Lovely shots, it sounds like a peaceful day.
Interesting ducks.
Enjoyed the walk in the wetlands. Love those Wood Ducks!
Nice sightings of the ducks.. The Wood Duck is one of my favorites! Have a happy week!
One of the nicest and most peaceful things I can do is to sit by a pond and watch pretty birds. Great photos Andrea.
What a lovely group of ducks you have around the lake! Nice birds!
We have the geese and lots of ducks (most mallards) but I don't think I've ever seen a wood duck here. They really are quite beautiful. Come to think of it, I can't remember seeing any turtles at our park either. Hmmm, I wonder why? I agree, this was a wonderful way to spend the day.
Today I have a couple of errands to do, and then I really should try spreading some of my grass seed. We are in for a week of rain starting Friday. At least that is what the weather channel says. Gosh, and I was going to put out all the yard furniture this week. I guess that will have to wait a while now.
Now it's time to do a few things around here before I leave to do my errands. You and Izzi have a fabulous day. Hugs. Edna B.
Love wood ducks too.. After breeding season the males lose their fancy plumage and look more like the females!!
The wood ducks are so handsome!
Now this is a novelty - I've seen all the birds in this post! That could be a first!
I don't know why the sand on Squeaky Beach is all the same size - but it's a good question! The squeaking is not too loud, and does not have that blackboard and fingernail painfulness! (thankfully!)
Cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne
I wish I were still there to see the changing of the birds, well...actually...to see you and Annie.
I think the Wood Ducks are so cool looking.
