Wild Bird Wednesday

I often drive to town by the back roads because there is a much better opportunity to see some wildlife.  I slowed down by the channel from our lake and bemoaned the fact that I haven't seen our swans for weeks.  Usually they are in the channel with their cygnets, but not today.  Further down the road there is a little creek that I slow down for because periodically I will spot an egret.  Imagine my surprise when I saw a young pair of Mute Swans with two cygnets making their way toward me in the small creek.  The creek goes under the road so I pulled over and put my blinkers on so the other (rude and impatient) people could pass me.  I don't know where this creek leads.  I hope it is a safe place for this little family.

They look healthy and happy for now ... Be well my little friends ... be safe.  You are in Wisconsin now and that is a hostile place for mute swans.  It makes me sad to even think about them shooting the swans and the Sandhill cranes in Wisconsin.  It's a government agency run amuck!

How gorgeous. And yes, I hope they, their families and all of their relatives are safe.

That's a great place to hide the family! Nice photos. Mute Swans are a non-native species and critters like that are often on the hit list to protect native species and the environment.

Gorgeous shots these are. How can they possible allow cranes and swans to be shot. That is an awful thing. This was a wonderful capture though and how lucky you got to see these. HOpe they do stay safe.

Sweet find! Back roads are the best when you can stop to shoot photos.

Oh Andrea, do they really shoot the swans and cranes in Wisconsin??? Gosh, I hope not. These are such beautiful birds, and they are all God's creatures. Like us. Your photos are just beautiful. I am always amazed at how the different animals and birds in nature protect and raise their young. Only the lucky humans get to watch.

I have just dropped off my little fellow at his new groomer, and I am so nervous. I am always this way when I have to leave him somewhere strange. I worry so for him. But I will be back there promptly in one more hour to pick him up. If he's not ready I'll just sit there and wait. Gosh, I'm like an old mother hen. haha. Andrea, you and Izzi have a fabulous weekend. Woofs and hugs, Edna & Pogo B.
