I should probably have put this on Shadow Shot 2 because the Great Blue Heron's body is essentially all shadow ... Of what, I am not sure. It was a strange site and an even stranger picture. A Great Blue Heron? Wow! I love the detail on his face and I love the feeling of motion- like he's going to glide right out of the frame!
Oh. What an amazing thing to see flying through your yard. Thrilling indeed.
Beautiful picture you show :)

This was a great capture! We had a heron about five years ago one winter that was very bold making a buffet of my fish pond just off of our deck. When I would let the dogs out it would fly into a fenced pool area and sit on the patio table, just watching, for them to go inside. It was a constant battle until I realized I could use our old sliding glass door screen across the pond as a deterrent. :-)
I've never seen one in person. Great shot! Now I'm off to grab me a nap. (worked all night) You have a wonderful day, hugs, Edna B.
Right above your yard?!!! How incredible is that!!! What a thrill. I'm glad you didn't use this as a shadow shot 'cause I would have missed this beautiful sight!!
Thanks for linking up at the Bird D'Pot.
Such graceful lines...
