NF Trees and Bushes

I will show my ignorance here ... this is either a Birch or an Aspen, I'm not sure which .... but I noticed it because it was standing tall amidst a variety of other less impressive trees.  I guess I would guess it is a Birch just because they are more common here, but not so much in the wild ... do you know?  I'm all ears :)

I have looked it up and I would plump for Birch but because i cannot make out the leaves, I would not put money on it!!!

Looking at the bark, and that upright growth I would plump for birch too. Beautiful things.
