NatureFootstep ... Catching Light

Basking
You have all probably met this little American Kestrel before.  He comes to visit me now and then as the need dictates.  He is an education bird because he has an injured wing that would keep him from being able to hunt and feed himself.  Otherwise he is  fine.  He can fly and when it is not too cold out, as it is now, he has a mew (raptor home) that gives him the room to fly and to see the territory around him.  As I have said before, this is not the life we would choose for him, but it is up to us to provide quality of life within the context of his circumstances.

He is indeed beautiful. And yes, to giving him as much quality of life as is possible. Thank you - and all the other tireless workers.

What a fun houseguest that would be. George and Gracie said to have him come and visit sometime!

Your Kestrel is just gorgeous!! He looks quite happy too. He is such a lucky bird to have nice folks such as you to look after and care for him. If only everyone could be so caring.

We had a warm night here, but as soon as morning came the temps starting going down. It's already about twelve degrees colder and still dropping. Gosh, do you suppose this wicked weather will ever dry up and blow away?

Today I'm going to make a pot of corn chowder. That should warm up the insides nicely. Pogo will have to have left over steak from last night's supper. Poor thing!!! lol.

You and Izzi try to keep warm, and have a super day. Hugs, Edna B.

What a beauty! How wonderful that you look after him since he is limited in doing this himself.
