The Sandhill Cranes have returned ... We saw a group fly in on our way home from the airport after the Thailand trip ... it seemed early, but apparently not ....
This youngster ( I am assuming because he is unhitched and is still gray which means he hasn't done the mud thing with a mate yet :) is walking in an area where I generally see a pair that has been coming back here for a long time. It is possible that he is a first year that has returned to his original home. And, what a beautiful specimen :)
He was as curious about us as we were him ... kept coming closer which I was loving. Eventually he turned and went the other way so we left. Further down the road we spotted the pair that I had referred to, searching for left overs in a corn field. More on them later :)

I love your cranes. We came across a couple of them a few years ago in Florida that came almost right up to us while we took photos. It was such fun.
I love all your photos from Thailand. I do hope you will be putting a blog book together to save all these wonderful stories and memories. Have a super day, hugs, Edna B.
Great photos to this beautiful bird. I've always loved the Sandhill Cranes. They look terrific in the air.
WOW! How lovely to have seen these gorgeous birds
How very, very beautiful. Thank you.
Nice to see them back. Wonderful shots of them...
What great birds - I really like to see some.
Cameras can be a great source of frustration - whatever type you have! The knee-pads have moved up the list, but I have to admit that I feel obligated to saw my own stuff if I have made it messy by crawling about in the mud! Which really only amounts to loading the washing - as who irons clothes to go crawling about in the the mud!
