Wild Bird Wednesday
Red-whiskered Bulbul
How exciting, a Thai bird that I could actually see. I saw the Bulbul in several parts of Thailand, but this is the one time I had a clear shot of him. They have a sweet song so you know they are around, but, like I said before, not easily seen.
I cropped this and another shot out so you could get a better look at his red cheek and bum ... a really pretty bird. about the size of a Red Wing Blackbird.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday
Glass
I was going to use this last week for the Collection prompt, but when I read this weeks list, I decided to save it for now ... it is all glass, Cambridge Glass, Depression glass and two elephant pie birds in the front(which are actually pottery) in a glass display case :)
Homemade
There are some things in life that you have to rely on luck for. Having an awesome neighbor is one of them and I really got lucky. My neighbor's husband built the bird houses and she painted them. The two on the right she gave me for my birthday. Note the little owl on the front ... she knows me like a book :) Homemade Birthday present bird houses ... it doesn't get any better :)
Open
This Open mouth is not a rare sight at my house. Chachi is a talker. He speaks up about every little feeling he has and most vociferously about "It's time to eat!"
My City
A view of the Chicago skyline from the steps of the Field Museum. This city is beautiful no matter what angle you photograph it from.
Entrance
The Entrance to the Chicago Field Museum is impressive by itself, but currently, with the Herb Alpert famed Spirit Totems (eight black bronze sculptures) on display ... it is doubly impressive :)
Through My Lens
Chicago Field Museum
I am going to give you a break from Thailand, though there will be many more pictures of my trip in the future. I went to the Chicago Field Museum last week and thought I would share a touch of it with you this week. It is impossible to show you all that there is to see there. It is a magnificent well preserved collection of experiences in an equally magnificent architecturally beautiful building. This only scratches the surface as we were unable to see everything ... it would take days to cover it all.
The Entrance to the Chicago Field Museum is impressive by itself, but currently, with the Herb Alpert famed Spirit Totems (eight black bronze sculptures) on display ... it is doubly impressive :)
Her actual head is on display elsewhere because it was too heavy to support on the skeleton and also because they wanted to be able to access it for further study.
Two fighting African Elephants in other end of main hall ... Displayed since 1909.
This display I will show you more of at another time and go into the controversy that swirls around it ...
We exited on the north side of the building and got another view of the architecture ...
And a wonderful view of the Chicago Skyline as we walked out the door ...
As we walked back to our car we saw other things of interest.
An Olmek Head ... a gift from Mexico
A statue ... sorry, I was too tired (lazy) to walk across the street to see who it was honoring :)
On my bucket list ... I would love to go on a tour gliding along on my own Segway ...
Wouldn't that be fun?
