This may look like an ordinary fence, but it's not ...
It surrounds the section of Vogelei Park (Hoffman Estates, Illinois) that is used by the Northern Illinois Raptor Center ...
to house and display their birds ...
Each little house (Mew) houses one raptor, except one that is divided to house to smaller raptors. They are built to specifications issued by US Fish and Wildlife.
The front of each house is a weathering yard where the birds can get fresh air and be more easily seen by the public.
So you see, this is a very important fence because it protects our birds. Some fences are just very special :)

i know this one is very special to you. :) thanks for sharing, andrea!
What a unique idea. Are the porches on the little houses screened in? Your owl photo is just beautiful. I've never had the good luck to see an owl up close and personal. They really are quite fascinating.
Yesterday's rain fizzled out, but it found it's way back here during the night. Today is gray and wet, but a fabulous day for laundry and crafts. This is good because I have a lot of crocheting to do. It's very relaxing and seems to help keep my hands limber.
Now it's time to do a bit of laundry. You and Izzi have a wonderful day. Hugs, Edna B.
ohhhh... what a beautiful owl you've captured here too....
