Our World Tuesday ...

How Do They Do That?

I have new neighbors and they are just wonderful.  They are also very busy fixing up their new house and their latest project was the landing at the bottom of the hill by the lake.

Imagine walking out in your yard and meeting this fellow ... "Take me to your leader"  :0

The plan is to replace the old landing with a new cement landing, but the issue is that it is at the end of the yard, and down a hill.  They had to use a cement pump and this was quite a project.  Thought you might want to see ... How they do that :)
The cement pump truck ... the cement will be pumped up over the house ...

Down the tubes ...

Down the hill to the landing...

My beautiful neighbor ...

The cement truck backs up to the cement pump truck and ...

pours cement into the pump.
the pump then pumps it up over the house where gravity pitches in and makes it flow

across the back yard ( or front yard ... on lake property they call the back the front  ... very confusing after a lifetime of the front being the front :(

down the hill to the landing where the workers immediately start spreading it ...

Here they are pouring the stairs ...

The cement oozes out as fast as they can spread it ...

Then they turn off the pump and use an air compressor to blow out what is left in the tubing ...

They dismantle my alien friend ...

and he waves goodbye as we watch ...

The cement workers finish the job ...

and after 24 hours of drying time ... there is a new landing

and stairs.  I just have to say, this was pretty cool and I think those workers deserve a round of applause for the beautiful end product.

That is amazing. I didn't know they could do anything like that. What a lovely carefree dock and steps they now have.

Great documentary Andrea. I never knew any of this, and found it really fascinating. These guys did a great job building the new landing. It's always so nice to have neighbors who take pride in their property. Thanks for sharing this. You have a wonderful day, hugs, Edna B.

Wow! Thanks for sharing. That was very interesting. All of it. I can't get over the idea of the cement managing to go all the way up and over the house.
