Gosh Andrea, I really feel old now, haha! Your illustration is lovely and of course I do recall the Lone Ranger series.
TV is becoming unbearable for me - the numerous commercials ruin shows, the background music they now play constantly drowns out the actors voices - I'm just about ready to start listening to radio again! Perhaps I'll look for one like your beauty here!
Happy day - Mary

This is so cool. It definitely reminds me of my childhood. We would all gather together in the kitchen and listen to our favorite programs on the radio. In the cold weather, we would sit in front of the big black stove, open the door to the oven and put our feet up on the shelf in front of the oven.

Hmmm, super memories. You have a great day, hugs, Edna B.

Those old radios were fabulous, real showpieces of furniture, so much more than a box sitting on a shelf.

What a great look back, this piece brings back vague memories for me when a radio was actually a piece of furniture.

I LOVE your take on the theme, Andrea! That's a nice, big radio! Thinking back, I remember Mum and Dad had a buffet-style unit that had a built-in radio and record player. Very retro! :)

My husband could repeat every word of that entry to the Long Ranger, remembering it from his childhood. Those old radios did much to keep the kids of those days entertained.

Great job with the girl and her radio! She is so intent on the story. Wish kids had more opportunities these days to just listen to stories with their ears and imaginations. I know they still enjoy it given the chance, as I've seen when I just told stories at library story times and as a substitute teacher.

Thankfully I was born in 1955 and don't remember shows on the radio (wink), but I DO remember "Hi ho Silver!!!" Great drawing! catchatwithcarenandcody

Gosh this looks so much like the "life-size" radio my grandma had when I was a little girl, too. This is really well done and I can see myself as the little girl you drew. This is fun! :)

This could have been me. I so remember laying on the floor in front of our old Philco stand up radio.

Your drawing and and color is so vintage....so adorable. Love it.

Andrea, that is super well rendered. I LOVE it! I wish you had added some little memory or story associated with it but my guess is you yourself used to sit down and listen to the radio when a child, no? Thank you for you lovely addition! Now, just one thing: how are you going to carry that to the picnic? Need some help? :)
