Wild Bird Wednesday #65
A group of them came in close to the fair grounds and look who it is ... my favorite raptor, The Turkey Vulture ...
They parked themselves on the tops of the telephone poles (the one at the end is drying his wings ... it was foggy and rainy i.e. very wet ...
Several landed on top of the Grandstand and watched the dogs running, thinking to themselves ... nope, not food, they're still moving :)
While others continued to soar overhead in hopes of finding something that was not moving (and in the case of the Turkey Vulture, something that smelled "good"!)
This was one of those rare occasions when two of my worlds came together. It gave me the opportunity to teach some of my agility friends about the Turkey Vulture and their importance to our environment ... Every opportunity to spread the word is charished. Save the birds ... Save the World. Everything is connected!
Have a Wonderful WBW!

Very nice flight shots, I admire these birds too..they do a needed job ! Whenever we see them circling though, I always remind myself to move! Just so they'll know!
i love these guys - and their black vulture cousins, too. :)
Great photos and very interesting to see so many vultures together.
Oh my gosh....a whole slew of them!!!
Cool shots of the Turkeys Vultures!!!
I love vultures! These are wonderful photos!
Wow. And beautifully connected.
Good news, Sallie ...if you don't have the sweet smell of carrion, they won't bother with you. Thanks for stopping by ...
Andrea
Vultures are social and are often seen in groups ... a group this large, however, is probably gathering to migrate. It was exciting to see so many together. Good to hear from you, Mick ...
Andrea
Oh, fabulous captures. I like vultures!
Would love to see some shots of those agility trials! Sounds fascinating!
oh and those vultures are very personable...
They are indeed a magnificent bird.
Super shots, Andrea. I've only seen them in Florida, and they are indeed beautiful. I love how you were able to capture them all perched on top of the poles. Each year I go to Florida, I have hopes of getting more photos of them. It's not always easy, but such a treasure when you succeed. You have a wonderful day, hugs, Edna B.
Lovely post, love the shot of the arrowed birds on the pylons....
The tops of the poles are in great demand! What would the world do without scavengers?
Great post for WBW!
