Wild Bird Wednesday

Migrating Pelicans ... We had at least three large flocks of Pelicans land on the lake over the last week.  Their group extended the length of the lake (this is one small section of them ...

They would arrive in the morning, sleep all day and then ...

after preening and swimming about for a short while, they would ...

Leave ...

Circling up and up until ...

You couldn't see them anymore ...

Wow, wow and wow.
My heart is stirred by the two or three pelicans I see at a time? This many? Bliss.

Sweet!!! These are some of my favorite birds. They are absolutely beautiful birds. Great captures of them doing their thing.

Oh Andrea, what pretty photos of the pelicans. I have never seen one up close in person. You are so lucky to have all these beautiful birds stopping by on your pond on their way to their next stop.
We had a beautiful day here yesterday. Today is a bit cooler and quite cloudy. I guess we have some rain coming. Either today or tomorrow, Pogo and I need to go out to do a few errands. Eddie put my new cabinet together yesterday, so today I will be busy deciding what goes in it and getting it organized.

Did I ask you if a soft cast would help Izzi? I am so forgetful lately. It's a good thing my head is tied on. haha. A soft cast might allow her to get around comfortably, yet keep the leg (or whatever) in the desired position. Just a thought.

Pogo and I are watching Sponge Bob on TV this morning. Soon though, I will go outside to photograph my first blossom. Oh my, it is soooo pretty!

You and Izzi have a wonderful day my friend, hugs, Edna B.

what kind of pelicans is this? Don´t think I have seen this bill before.

They are the White (fresh water) Pelicans. The bill grows that bump during mating season then it drops off during the summer. I guess the bigger the bump, the more desirable you are ... hummm is that to say, size matters :)
