Wild Bird Wednesday

Life is a bit boring at my place ... yes, blue sky, blue water and hundreds of seagulls

and in 24 hours, blue sky, dropping temperatures, blue water, blue ice and and still hundreds of seagulls ...

Oh yea ... a few ducks

But at Sundown it is still blue/pink skies, blue ice,  blue water and hundreds of seagulls ...
In three days it will be a new year ... does that mean there is hope?  Will Spring ever come so I can have blue skies, blue water and some migrating blue birds or something ... anything ... Help!  I think they call this the winter blues :(

Happy New Year Anyway ... I am sure we have much to look forward to ... at least I hope so :)

Weekend Reflection

I loved this reflection because I really had to study it to be able to tell what was the reflection and what was the actual picture.  They seem to blend like it was intentional.
Are you as exhausted as I am?  I love Christmas, but when it is over,  the presents unwrapped and the delicious meal consumed, I suddenly realize, this was hard work!  And, I am exhausted ... But Content :). Hope your Christmas was wonderful ... or whatever celebrations you shared over the holiday season.

Good Fences

You can't read the sign and I don't remember what it says ... but just take my word for it, it has something to do with Christmas :)

This sign is hanging on a fence even though you can't see it in this picture.  Fences are great support systems when you want to decorate.
It's Christmas Eve ... are you all excited?  Tonight Santa will be out and about and all of those who were not naughty ... hmmmm, I wonder if that includes me.  I'll have to give that some thought.  Anyway ... Have a Merry Christmas Everyone!

Wild Bird Wednesday

Late Migration

Our weather has been anything but normal this winter.  We had snow in October and by early November our lake was frozen ...
But then two weekends ago our temperatures went up into the 50's and it has stayed warmer (above freezing) since ... The lake thawed and the flocks started arriving and departing as they should have been in late fall.  Mostly Common Mergansers a few Mallards, of course the Seagulls and more that I couldn't identify.

The Canada Geese stay all winter but move to the open fields once the lake is frozen ... they, too, came back.

And the Eagle made a pass as he checked out his territory ... he will be back with others as long as the lake stays open.

This morning there were a few Golden Eye

And a small group of Mergansers ... they flew off and started climbing to head further south.

The warm weather was a blessing for the many birds who were caught by the sudden and unexpected change in the weather ... Nature does take care of it's own ... and will continue to do so if man does what they need to do to protect the environment.  Here's hoping, though it doesn't look promising ..

Nature Footstep ... Catching the Light

Doodle lights :)
My neighbors have a maple tree beside their garage and every year they hang this string of lights on it.  I call it my doodle lights because from every angle there is another set of doodle characters to be found.  I am sure they don't put them up there for my entertainment, but I find it to be great fun while I am out walking Izzi.

So ... do you see what I see?

Merry Christmas Everyone

Geometric Friday

Grocery Shopping ...

There are lines and shapes in everything we do, but our minds make them into something we will
recognize.  Geo Friday allows us to break them into their components and see them artistically ... fun, fun, fun!!  Have a Wonderful Loving Christmas, Lori ... as I know you will because you have a beautiful family to share it with.

NF DAM ... Digital Art Meme

My Christmas card is usually a message regarding something I have done or that has been important in my life during the year.  It isn't strictly a Christmas Card.  It is the time of year that I  like to say hello to the friends and family that I don't see often.  I can add a little note inside when appropriate, but it is mostly my way of keeping friends up to date on my life and letting them know that they are forever on my mind and in my heart.

The inside of my card celebrates the Peace Glacier in Switzerland ... Peace on Earth is, on a certain level, what
Christianity is very much about in my life.  I am also celebrating a 50 year wedding anniversary so it all gets included in my card.
Some of you are on my Christmas card list ... but those of you who are not, are getting your card from me today.  I wish you all a wonderful Holiday Season and I know you would all agree that Peace on Earth would be a wonderful thing.

"May Peace be your gift at Christmas and your blessing all year through!"
