Wild Bird Wednesday

Wild Bird Wednesday #53

The House Sparrow House :)

Is he looking for Mom or is he thinking about fledging?  Not sure, but I haven't seen any babies in this house for a few days ... I am hoping they have fledged.

We have lots of sparrows here. We feed them too. Along with the hummingbirds. I love to watch birds.

Have a terrific day. ☺

I do love those little new birds!! My son and his wife had a new family of little winged friends in their new bird house earlier this spring! So sweet!! Delightful captures for the day, Andrea!! Hope your week is going well!

Sweet photos of the babies being fed by Mom. Love the bird house with the license plate roof, those have always been my favorite. I guess since I love the sound of rain on a metal roof I figure they should enjoy it also. That is one part of my nomadic life that I do miss, being able to have a birdhouse up and watch the cycle of life, but I enjoy the trade offs that the RV provides.

I love how nature outlines their little mouths so Mom can hit the target. Hungry and cute ... a good description ...

Hope your week goes well too, Sylvia. What kind of babies did your son have in his house? They are always fun to watch and they grow and fledge so quickly that if you don't keep an eye on them ... poof, they will be gone. Thanks for stopping by, Sylvia.

I know, it is a blessing to have it all right out your window. My husband says we don't have to go on vacations because we have everything here. I'm not sure I agree with all of that, but we certainly do have much to be thankful for.

Oh, don't tell the sparrow he is humble ... he won't believe a word of it. They are sometimes very arrogant little birds and a stitch to watch, as I am sure you know. Thanks for stopping by Carole ...

You are right QJ, there are always trade offs ... and I would love to be able to see all that you see in your travels. We are both pretty blessed ...

I think the birdhouse looks like it should be in a kids storybook. Maybe my friend McGuffy will write her next kids book about baby birds and can use it in her story. Thanks for commenting, Rebecca

Oh yes, and they will start again. Our sparrow population booms every summer ... don't know where they all go and soon they will run out of bird houses around here, but that doesn't seem to slow them down. They are clearly on a mission ... reproduce :)

Such big mouths to feed! LOL! Great shots you have gotten of these babies, and definitely hope that they have fledged. No cats ?? LOL, around your house are there.???

What a wonderful series! I've spent this year surveying breeding birds and it's been fascinating to watch the whole process from courtship to nest building to egg laying and fledging.
Thank you for sharing these great behavioral photographs! (Not to mention they're just darn cute, too!) :)
