Wild Bird Wednesday

Favorite Spring Visitors ... The Wood Ducks

The Wood Ducks arrive in the spring as a pair and then shortly after, he will disappear.  She will be spotted from time to time in the channels with her group of babies.  So our visit each year is too short, but I always look forward to it.

Beautiful things - and very different to the ducks I usually see.

Your wood ducks are really beautiful. I've never spotted any of them in our area. I wonder where the "Mr" goes while the "Mrs" is raising their brood? Gosh, I feel sort of bad for her having to raise the family by herself. Ah well, I'm sure she'' do just fine.

Pogo sends woofs to Izzi. You have a great day my friend. Hugs, Edna B.

They are so pretty. We have some in our park aviary but I've never seen them in the wild.

I love wood ducks...unfortunately the creek where I usually go to see them has flooded over its bank and over the walking path....so no sightings yet!

Wonderful looking ducks - I have only seen these in the wild once. I got very excited. The owl shots (both sets) were taken in India - and unfortunately that was a work trip, so no kids.
