2015 Chicago Auto Show
We headed downtown by way of the Chicago neighborhoods so we could make a stop to visit my friend's daughter.
We stayed for awhile then headed to the outer drive to get to McCormick Place ...
The outer drive is really Lake Shore Drive and it follows the Lake Michigan shore line into the city. It is also called the "Gold Coast" and you can probably imagine why :)
We parked in underground parking at McCormick place ... costs a little more, but it is so cold out no one wanted to walk outside.
We walked inside to the Auto show which is actually on the other side of Lake Shore Drive ...
The displays are on both sides of this corridor ... a million square feet of showroom ... woo hoo :)
New Cars ...
Old Cars ...
Sports cars ...
And, look who met us there ... the newly weds (my son and his wife who he just brough back from Thailand) They took the train down so she could see more of the city.
She had fun taking pictures in the cars and sending them home to her family and friends ...
And, of course, for the Engine buffs ...
Who is this? Steve McMicheal a member of the 1985 Super Bowl Champion Chicago Bears ... thirty years ago and he (we call him Mongo) is still a celebrity.
More cars ...
OMG, a Bentley :)
A Rolls Royce ...
This is called a "suicide car" because of the doors ... don't know the make :(
A Delorean :p
Jaguar ..... grrrrrr :)
This was my favorite ... a Ford, believe it or not ... totally awesome!
Look at the wings ... aerodynamics ... I love this car.
Anyone for a tie-dye car? I believe they said it starts at $85,000 ... no thank you :)
The old Corvets ...
A Super Sport ...
Ahh, alas it is getting late, and we are getting tired and hungry ... Time to go
A little water fountain fun ...
This corridor actually goes over the Lake Shore Drive ...
Lake Shore looking south ...
Lake Shore looking north ...
A little better view of the skyline from the car ...
Destination ... Greek Town and dinner :)
Soon to be calimari ...
Nice restaurant ...
And Saganaki is a must(flaming Greek Cheese) and a cute waiter to boot :)
Food was great ... Day was a wonderful way to spend time with friends and family ... and a last look at the city (Wilson Tower ... used to be Sears Tower ...still is to me :)
Happy Our World Tuesday ...

WOW! This was a wonderful trip you took us in today. Plenty of action and colour. All the cars are wonderful. I like the old cars and those sport cars are cool although at my age they are now to difficult to get in and out of. Loved the whole post and the restaurant looked lovely as well.
Hello Andrea, looks like a fun visit to Chicago.. Your new DIL is pretty. Congrats to your son! I love all the neat cars.. Wonderful series of photos.. Have a happy day and week ahead!
Looks like a great day out! I think its safe to say none of those cars will ever end up parked on my driveway!
The view from the top of Mt. Amos is rather special - and my 10 year old enjoyed the walk as well - although she said it was better last time when she was eight! Glad I have kids who will have a go!
Cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne
My goodness Andrea, what a gorgeous show you've put on for us! The cars are awesome. And your son and his bride are just beautiful. Such a proud mama you must be! I would love to have seen all these fabulous machines, but I would have needed an electric cart to get around. Too much walking for this gal.
What a great shot of the Sears ... er, Wilson Tower. As for the calamari, no thank you. If it comes from the sea and it isn't haddock or scallops, I don't eat it. I will leave it all for you.
Gosh only four more days to prepare for our leaving. Time is flying by. I hope it slows down when we get to Florida so that we can enjoy the warmer temps longer. Even Joe is getting excited. He has worked hard all winter keeping up with all the snow and ice, and really deserves a nice vacation. He says he will spend most of his time in the pool. haha.
Well, it's time to think about what's for lunch. You and Izzi have a wonderful day. Hugs, Edna B.
wow, how much fun is that? I would have, loved walking around there. And o great to have family around you. Thanks for sharing all shiny, beautiful cars.
Looking at the cars was fun - but best of all was seeing your happy son and his wife. What a wonderful day you had! I am late catching up with my comments this week - I too had a lovely family afternoon ( picking up littl Matty from school and off to a
Japanese restaurant later
