Victorian Buttoned-down Shoes
Original Sketch
One of the reasons I digitalize my sketches is that I seem to lose a lot of detail and color in the scanning process ... if anyone knows a way to avoid that, I am all ears :)
Not that I have anything against Pizza ... but once again I am opting to deviate from Rain's prompt. I recently attended this show with...

We had the same idea!
About losing detail in your scans: looks like you are scanning the whole sketchbook, which would keep the scanner lid from closing and allow in too much light. Scanner lids are also made to press the image against the glass and smooth the material somewhat. If you don't want to take the sketch out of the binding, you might try draping some dark fabric over the scanner. The other option is to skip the scanner if it isn't a flat piece, simply take a photo instead.
I use photoshop to auto correct, that brings out those details.
Maybe you could check your scanner settings. I remember 300dpi being a good resolution. Your buttoned up shoes are so cute, nice job!
I love that old style. I would fit into that era. You've done a lovely job. Sorry, I only do the old fashioned watercolors with paint and brush...never done any think digital.
beautiful sketch and love the style you've illustrated.
Are you scanning at 300 dpi? Also, sometimes I lose detail and clarity when my paper is not lying flat on the scanner like when I'm scanning a page in a book or my journal.
Love your digitized version too!
Goodness you are clever...
What a throw back those shoes are! I really like the scene you've created.
Very nice sketch.
Great picture. I love the old boots. And those ideas are good. Yes 300 dpi. Your computer scanner might be set for 25 dpi. And I use Photoshop to brighten and get the right colours.

She's lovely! Aren't we glad not to have all those buttons on our shoes now?
Hey you and Paula on Instagram had the same idea and that would have never occurred to me. Great idea. Dainty sketch. Sorry about the scanning though--it can be tricky getting the lighter colours in particular.
Beautiful dress and fab shoes! :)
Lovely take on the theme, Andrea!
Such a great idea for the theme - I love the old-fashioned buttoned boots!
