Wild Bird Wednesday

The Common Loon

We have Loons on the lake twice a year ... once as they migrate north to their mating grounds and in the fall when they return south to escape the cold winters.  Their song echos across the lake speaking of the approaching Spring  ... I do love our Loons :)

the Loons are beautiful birds but I rarely see any. Last year I only saw a pair once and from quite a distance. But you can´t mistake them for other species :) Great sighting :)

It's such a pretty bird, the pattern on it's feather is rather neat. Nothing "common" to me about them.
