Wild Bird Wednesday

Wild Bird Wednesday # 46
Link to Paying Ready Attention

This beautiful little boy is fairly common in this area, but not so around my house.   This pair passes through every spring (I haven't spotted the female yet ... she is so much like the other brown females except her gross beak so she is hard to spot), but they never stay ... don't know why.   I wish they would because they are beautiful and have a pretty song.

I haven't seen him for a few days, though I am still hearing his song ... I will watch for the female and if I am lucky enough to spot her I will include her in a future post ... Happy WBW to all of you!

P.S.  I am adding this little YouTube that was sent to me by a friend ... it is too cute not to share, but I have to add that I don't think people should try to do this unless they have the proper training or guidance ... because without it,  it wouldn't turn out well for the bird.

I'm so jealous! I saw a rose-breasted grosbeak in a poplar tree yesterday but it was so windy I couldn't get a good photo of it. They certainly are handsome fellows!

This bird is so pretty... Don't think I have ever seen one of these before, although we do have alot of birds at the cabin that I don't see at home. I have seen a similar beak though, but not the red breast. Also pretty amazing video of this hummingbird baby. Wow....

Stunning photos - we don't get those birds here so it is a delight to see them.

Oh wow to the photos - and to the video. Thank you so much on both counts.

What a charming video! The bird has obviously bonded with the boy.I had a baby parrot do that with me.
I know exactly how you feel about your grosbeaks, I have birds that behave like that too.

I find it hard to believe that anything that looks like this could be "common"! But I suppose you may say the same thing about parrots.

Keep saving!

Cheers and thanks for linking to WBW

Your birds are beautiful. I've never seen these (except for photos). That video was WOW! I really enjoyed that. I just love the hummingbirds. Thank you so much for sharing. Hugs, Edna B.

Lovely post - great bird, and agree with Stewart sentiments what is common for one is a mega rarity for another..... that's why WBW is a good idea so we all share our common birds about.

I love the rose breasted grossbeaks, they are one of my favorites.
What a sweet video - I have renewed faith in the younger generation being able to have the patience for such things and not just being on their electronic gadgets all the time!
