Rain Frances Creations ... Mushrooms

Mushrooms
These are not really mushrooms, but very specific fungi, that only David would know the names of ... but they are as close as I can get to a mushroom, so this is what you get :)

And, David ... these were taken in the State Park that I have told you about :)

Fungi are such a wonderful part of a fall forest, with such variety of shape, colour and texture. For those who know what to look for and what is safe to harvest, a world of exceptional taste awaits. Of course, what we see above ground is just the fruiting body, and the real work goes on beneath the soil. Thanks for sharing these beauties, Andrea. Many hugs - David

How I love seeing fungi - and eating carefully selected ones too.

Mushrooms are a fruit. They are such a fascinating life form of microscopic mycelium networks that produce these fine looking fruiting bodies we call mushrooms.

Being ignorant in this area, they all look like mushrooms to me! Love your wee faeries.

Hi, Andrea! Your photos remind me of my first biology class at university. At the beginning of the first lecture, Dr. Grund held up the stems of some mushrooms and said that a local family had died from eating the tops. What an introduction to biology, so much so, that several years later I took a yearlong course on mycology from him. What I came away with. was a conviction that I would only eat mushrooms from the grocery store or a trusted source, plus a fascination for the fungi kingdom. I love your photos! Have a great week!

Dear Andrea, until just now I didn't know that there is a difference between mushrooms and fungi in English... Does that have something to do with edible and inedible?
I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart 😘 for your lines about my thoughts on democracy and elections. And I agree with every word you wrote to me. We live in "interesting" times (as the little notes in Chinese fortune cookies sometimes say 😉...) - I could easily live with slightly more boring times... We can only hope that the mass of Orwellian sheep is smaller than that of thinking people...
Hugs, all the best and a pleasant new week

We love mushrooms too... provided that they are not poisonous. And now in autumn it´s time again for this delicious food. My uncle collect them in the wood. Fungi are a kingdom of eukaryotic organisms. Like plants (Plantae), to which they have long been classified, they are sedentary, but cannot photosynthesize. Therefore, like animals (Animalia), they have to feed on organic substances (heterotrophy), which they absorb in dissolved form from the environment. According to current knowledge, fungi are more closely related to animals than to plants.

Have a wonderful week, dear blogfriend. Greetings by Heidrun
