Thursday Art Day and Dinner Date ... Stranded in Snow

Stranded in Snow

Izzi was a snow lovin' dog and we had plenty of deep snows when we lived on the lake ...

The pictures below are from Public Domain as my pictures of this day are all slides ... I worked in downtown Chicago and was stranded there until the next day when they finally got the trains running.  However when we got home no one could come pick us up at the train so we had to walk about two miles on the streets that were plowed .  My neighbor was with me and he had to stop at a store on the way home because he had to buy milk for his new born baby.  It was quite a harrowing experience.

So far nothing since has come close to this ... as I recall we had 20+ inches of snow dropped between when I left for work that morning and when I was supposed to be going home that evening  :(

I love snow, but this was a bit much.  Hope you all are home safe and warm ...

Wow. Not something we would ever see here.

Major deep snow is years in our past here on the prairie. Lovely photos of your dogs playing in the snow. We have had a couple dusting of snow, but it has melted away in a day or two so far. We could be getting some cold weather soon.

Poor Bugs Bunny! That's quite the blizzard and snow dump you lived through!

Looks like the puppy-dogs are having fun.

OMG, dear Andrea, the pictures from the Blizzard of 1967 are really intense. And I can well imagine that you will never forget this experience. I see it like you, snow can be something nice, but what's too much is too much.

But it's wonderful to watch Izzi's enthusiasm for snow. In the first dog photo: Were they siblings? Mother and child?... Your Bugs in the snow doesn't look as happy as the dogs...

Thank you for your email address. I wrote you a test email on December 4th - did you receive it (or perhaps end up in your spam folder?)?
All the best, Traude

...Andrea, you show the snow of my youth, how things have changed. Some would say for the good or for the better! Take care and be warm and well.

We have many snow here, but less than you. Oh yeah, what a work to put this away from the street.

Dear Andrea, you made me smoke with the little Story around the both dogs. And I remember to our Chow-Chow, he loved the snow too!

Wish you a very good time,Tage care with the ice!

20+ inches of snow in such a short period definitely is too much.
The pictures of Izzi, however, are wonderful, Andrea. That absolute joy of being outside in the snow! These are the beautiful sides of snow. I have many fond memories of snowy days, but also some that I didn't like that much, like driving in white-out conditions (scary) and endless snow shovelling.

I love seeing these photos. I remember snow like this when I was a kid. Sadly, that seems to be no more.

I like snow. Especially now that I am retired and don’t have to drive in it, and can enjoy the best of it. And snow brings Snowy Owls and Snow Buntings, Horned Larks and Lapland Longspurs. Winter is to be enjoyed!

Hi Andrea,
Now that's a snow storm!
We sometimes get a lot of snow, but it usually arrives in March.
The dogs look very pleased about it though. :)
