Thursday Art & Dinner Date! ... Words for 2024

 Words for 2024

My first word is travel as I am leaving in January for Thailand, Singapore and Australia.  I will be traveling for 16 days:)

Family

 Son and his Wife

 Daughter

Granddaughter and her boyfriend

Granddaughter and her fiancรฉ

My FH (someone asked once what FH stood for ...  it is a nickname which will remain personal) :)

Friends

These are my active friendships here at home.  I have many more friends from my past that I am still in contact with, but we don't see each other often.  And then, of course there are my blogging friends, one of which I will be meeting in Australia and others that I hope to meet with sometime in the future :)

Last but not least, the year 2024 is an election year here in the USA.  An election that is tearing our country apart between ...

A man who fights for the working class in our country ...
Joe Biden
and a man who would be king (so much for democracy :( )

I don't doubt that as soon as I post this I will think of many other words that fit the occasion, but for now this is it ...

I lOVE most of your words for the year. Election not so much. And I mourn that we will not connect while you are in Australia.

What a wonderful trip ahead of you, Andrea! Singapore is one of my favorite places in the world, although it has changed a lot since I was there. And I am in love with all things Australian. At first I thought that you might be meeting up with Sue (Elephant's Child), but I saw in the comments that wasn't the case. I don't have a word zeroed in on for the year, but I will chose it for my next post. Wishing you lots of adventures and may you catch no cruddy bugs! Hugs to you!

Dear Andrea, I'm so sorry, I came too late to wish you a safe trip! I always need so much time to do my blog rounds or to visit everyone who has left me comments and kind wishes and it took me until today before I got to your blog... Your comments to me are always so lovely and most welcome, and I don't just want to leave you with a two-liner ๐Ÿฅฐ
First of all, I wish you a wonderful time traveling and with your family. (By the way, I was the one - or one of them - who wanted to know what FH means. I now agree with myself on Fabulous Husband, whatever FH means to you both ๐Ÿ˜‰.) You show many beautiful family and friendship photos - that speaks for a fulfilled life. I also saw in your most recent post that you had a very creative, talented mother - the talents are obviously in your genes.
You have similar concerns as I do about this year's elections. There are important elections not only in the USA, but also in Russia and some other countries, as well as here in Austria. And as always, I hope for miracles that can stop the dangerous lurch to the right...
Let's talk about less scary topics: You mentioned the beautiful gingerbread cookies that my friend created for her daughter. True, they are just too pretty to eat, but I think you can just let them dry and preserve them that way for a while. My daughter, who originally was trained as a pastry chef, also made me beautiful gingerbread stars with blue icing, which I used as Christmas decorations. They lasted for some years, but at some point one of our cats brought a mouse into the house, lost it and the mouse tried (successfully!) to survive in our house by nibbling the gingerbread ๐Ÿ˜‚! (We then caught it with a live mouse trap and released it into the wild - but the stars were damaged...)
Come back from your trip healthy!!!
I wish you and everyone you love (humans and animals) a happy, healthy and peaceful New Year ๐Ÿ„๐Ÿ€!
All the best, Traude
