Through My Lens
Asian BBQ
Having a Daughter-in-law from Thailand is wonderful in and of itself , but I have to say there are some experiences that she has shared with us that stand out and one is the Asian BBQ. This is a delicious and healthy fare made up of grilled meats and multiple vegetables and mushrooms cooked in a broth. The piece de resistance (use your imagination for the umlauts as they don't exist on our type faces) is the spicy dipping sauce that sits beside your plate ... varying levels of hot for each of us .... So Delicious!

Sunday Sketches
Tiny Life
Every life, no matter how tiny, has a role to play in the balance of nature. I respect life and avoid, at all cost, being responsible for ending a life, even that of a tiny spider. Respect for life and for others seems to be waning in our society these days and it is painful to watch. How do we return to a time when manners, politeness, respect all added up to a more comfortable and rewarding way of life? I have no problem with progress, but losing one's soul to greed and selfishness is the beginning of the end and I fear that is where we are headed.

Wild Bird Wednesday
Potpourri of Birds
These are some of the many birds I have spotted while walking in the Forest preserves and some at the Bong Wildlife Reserve. It is difficult to catch the small birds in these settings, but once in awhile, I get lucky. Enjoy ...

Through My Lens
A Walk Through a New Lake County Forest Preserve ...
Common Buckeye Butterfly
WoollyBear Catapiller
I was taken by the way the trunk of this fallen tree is so twisted. Can't imagine how that happens.
I live in Lake County where the taxes are exorbitant and it makes me cringe every time I have to pay them. But when I walk through one of their many beautifully maintained forest preserves, I have the sense that at least some of the money is being used for a good purpose.
