Sunday in the Art Room ...

Sunday in the Art Room

White Pelicans visited our lake every Spring(much to the chagrin of the local fisherman) on their way to places further north.  They stayed for several weeks then one day they would all fly off headed straight North.  So was the timeing of their departure their own understanding of weather and when the lakes in the north would thaw or did it have to do with the amount of food (fish) available in our lake.  I don't know the answer to that, but I do know that they were amazing guests and those of us with cameras looked forward to their arrival every year :)

A little artsy fun ...

So another week has past and it is hard to tell from day to day if it is winter or if we are moving toward Sping.  Our temperatures have ranged from the low 30's to the mid 60's.  I assume (and am hoping) that the temperatures will keep moving toward the 60's and then stay there with only upward movement from that point on.  Spring can't be that far off, right?.  I keep telling myself I am looking forward to Spring, but then I remember how much work goes into cleaning up after winter and preparing and planting our gardens.  Oh my ... but at least we won't have to wear our coats and we will have bright colored flowers and the presences of busy bees and the sweet songs of birds.  Oh yes, I am for sure looking forward to Spring :) Hope you are all doing well ...

Andrea!!!!! These are outstanding photos. You captured the pelicans and their nature so brilliantly. I have only seen them here a few times and they delight me. As do your photos. The one with reflection is true artistry as is your drawing. A wonderful post and I thank you for sharing with SITAR. Have a warm and lovely Sunday.

WE were driving through the Dakotas years ago and there were a lot of white pelicans. I didn't know they went inland to lakes before that. These are fabulous photos. And I love you riding that pelican. :) Happy March to you. hugs-Erika

These are stunning photos of White Pelicans. They are gorgous birds. Sometimes I see them here in the winter, either in the Laguna or at the lake. Out at the coast we have Brown Pelicans and it's always fascinating to watch them fly over the water. Wonderful birds. Your art with you riding the pelican is hilarious - such a great idea!
I hope that spring will be there in your corner soon. It's very springlike here, we saw lots of trees in bloom today on our walk.

I think the fishermen were all envious of the skill and proficiency of the pelicans and I hope they didn't try to harm them. They are wonderful birds; a joy to see. For several years now a few make their way to southern Ontario and stay for a day or two. What was once a rare event has almost become predictable. Take good care, Andrea. Hugs - David

Birds, and I suppose all, creatures have their own sense of timing, don't they? I remember seeing my first pelican in Florida when I was a kid. I'm not sure how many I've seen since, but I remember being impressed by their shape, their majesty, their "pouch." Every photo is a gem and your drawing even more so.

Friday Face Off ....

Friday Face Off   We have been seeing Robins in our yards ... a good sign that Spring is near 😊 Fingers Crossed.  Out with the Cold, in wit...
