Friday Face Off
New Years Day is my Father's Birthday, so it seemed fitting to pull up his picture along with my Mother who was always at his side. My father was a professor at the University of Illinois and my mother was an OB nurse at Carle Clinic and Hospital. But most of all they were kind (though strict), loving parents.
My parents have been gone since the 1990's, but they live in my heart every day. I was blessed with wonderful parents and a joyful childhood. So I am starting my new year out with a word of Thanks for all that they did for me.
Happy New Year to all of you ...

Your parents are very handsome couple. They sound like wonderful people. Must be where you got it. :) Thank you for sharing your family with FFO and wishing you the very best for 2026.
PS. Yes I know that Rain is retiring from blogging and all Social media. I'm thrilled that you will be joining FFO. I can't wait to see your portrait. Remember for FFO any blog post is acceptable as long as there is a face. So glad you are back.
Dear Andrea,
it's lovely to see you at FFO and to meet your parents here and learn about your happy childhood. It's wonderful that you had such loving parents who encouraged you and your interests.
From your opening picture, I gather that you're sad that Rain has left the blogging world... I feel the same way... but I think we can both understand their reasons...
I wish you and the people who are important to you a wonderful, colorful, happy, exciting... and above all, healthy New Year!!! 🍀🥂🍾🐞🐷❣️

Happy New Year!
Your parents look so lovely, Andrea. How wonderful that you are joining FFO, although it's really sad that Rain is retiring. Understandable though.
I think our parents - especially if we were lucky to have loving ones - never really leave us. I always think of mine and I miss them. I wish I could just pick up the phone and talk with them.
A happy and healthy 2026 to you.
A great way to start the New Year! We buried our Mom on January 5th 2012, and like you... I always remind my Brother of the dates - he still lives there, always forgets, but gets flowers and brings them to the grave where both our parents were "left" (Dad passed 2002).
As long as we think of them they are still here.
..Andrea, be warm, well and merry in 2026.
Now we all know how you got your good looks, Andrea!
Both of your parents look interesting and approachable. I would have loved to meet them.
Happy new year.
Those vintage photos in lack and white are always so appealing. I don't know what it is about black and white. They made a handsome couple, and I bet you miss them. My parents (or should I say my mom) was pretty strict too. Happy new year to you! I hope you have an excellent 2026.
Happy New Year!
Your parents were both such handsome and lovely people. And yes, especially nice to share on your dad's birthday. I just love the classic black and white photos They always seem to focus the eye on what matters most -- you get less bogged down in details!
Lovely share Andrea! Nice to see you at Friday Face Off! I don't know why I didn't mention it to you yesterday when you asked about art coops. Not thinking.
Thanks for sharing the beautiful photos of your parents, Andrea. I see warmth, intelligence, and curiosity in their faces. In my experience, kind and loving parents are often strict too. I think of my parents and miss them every day. It's great to see you back. Wishing you a happy and healthy 2026!
