Great to see all the Christmas lights. So folks do go over the top on their lighting displays. Thanks for the seasonal lighting at this dark time of year.

It really is the beautiful lights in these dark times that give people hope. In my opinion, the darkness does not only refer to this time of year. It is the many disasters that our contemporaries have to suffer. Things that are unfortunately provoked and caused by the people themselves. I'm thinking of our climate! And of course the lack of peace. I understand it less and less the older I get. I'm not the only one who feels this way. We often talk about it with friends!

There are those who invest a lot of time, effort and money into these illuminated events, Andrea, but here it seems to be a dying tradition (if it ever was a tradition) and fewer houses each year seem to feature these elaborate decorations. I remember in years past there were organized tours to view the excess and even tours of people’s homes. All the best - David

Dear Andrea,
you have created a fine collection of Christmas lights. In the USA - compared to Austria - far more private households are decorated with festive lighting. Here, too, there have been more and more over the years - but in the last two years there have been fewer again due to increased energy costs. My husband and I prefer small Christmas accents in the house and garden, we leave the big lighting to the Christmas markets, that's better for the environment and for our wallet ;-)
I would like to thank you again for your wonderful comment on my previous post. Because you wrote to me that you still have old books from the 1920s from your grandmother - so do I :-D And I also create a photo journal and photo books from our travels every year. I think your idea of making a memory book for your friend who suffers from Alzheimer's is wonderful and very loving.
As for the Cistus tea: I hope you find it (at least you should get it online) and that it helps your shoulder. I know how bad shoulder pain can be, I once suffered a painful shoulder injury at my job due to overload/poor posture at work and it took years before I finally got rid of the problem. In such cases, Cistus tea can also be used externally (as poultices)!
