Wild Bird Wednesday

Pelicans Return

What is is about the Pelicans that makes me admire them so ... they are huge and yet graceful, ugly and yet beautiful, powerful and yet gentle.  I love it when they return every year to spend time on our lake before completing their migration to their summer habitat.   I can't pass on a picture even when I already have hundreds :)

I rarely see more than one or two pelicans at a time. Colour me jealous - and I would have a kazillion photos of them too.

Hello!:) I would take hundreds, possibly more if I got the chance, but sadly we don't see them round here. Great shots Andrea!:)

Lovely photos. They are incredibly graceful for all their clumsy look. We enjoyed watching them in January when we visited the Gulf Coast.

I'm the same Andrea! We mostly have brown ones here in Florida ... I think they're even more gawky and silly looking, but I love them anyway. White ones are graceful in comparison.

I love pelicans - although ours dont get the 'limp' on their beak.

Keep up the pressure and if all else fails, you can sleep in out spare room!

The great white pelicans will show up on our lakes in a few weeks. I have never been able to get this close to them as they are quite nervous around people. Great shots.

How blessed you are to have all these beautiful pelicans on your pond. They really are beautiful birds. Trying to catch up on my blog reading, just don't have very good concentration yet. You and Izzi have a great day, hugs, Edna B.
