Quilts

Quilts can be many things to many people.  There is the quilt that Grandma made that holds memories of a wonderful person in your life.  There are Friendship Quilts and Baby Quilts where a group of women each make a square then turn them over to a brave sole who will sew them into a
wonderful blanket for the friend or for the new mother.  Then there is just the fact that quilting is an art so they are a pallet of colors and ideas generated by an artist ...

The following are a few of the quilts that were on display at the Chicago Botanical Gardens ... feast your eyes.  I can't even imagine the hours that were spent creating these wonderful quilts.

Male Red Breasted Mergansers

A group of male Red Breasted Mergansers arrived on the lake and stayed for several days.  I was surprised that there were no females with them, but I will keep my eyes open ... I am guessing they are not far away :)

Pajamas

Pillow fights and over nights, that's what came to mind when the prompt from Micheal was Pajamas.  Girl time was always fun and full of laughter,  the telling of secrets and the, not usually allowed, late night snack ... popcorn as I recall.  Oh how I would look forward to those over nights as a kid and oh how I didn't as a parent.  It usually meant a night without sleep and a few days of dragging after the fact.  But, life is good and Pajama parties are fun and now that I am older and even my grandchild is off to college it is one of the times I miss and will probably never experience again.  Thanks, Micheal for great memories :)

Loons

We have had as many as 30 Loons on the lake for the past week.  It is wonderful to hear them calling in the mornings and the evenings.  They are not alone on the lake, needless to say ... more to come :)
