Our World Tuesday

I spent the day with a friend on the south side of Chicago and we had some wonderful experiences which I will be sharing with you over the next few weeks.  This first glimpse into the world of Hyde Park  is a wonderful old Catholic School and Church that were built in the 1920's.  The Church is now on the National Registry of Historical Places.

The School ...

You will note a definite Art Deco influence which was popular in this period.  The Church was designed by an associate of Frank Lloyd Wright.  Though Frank Lloyd Wright designs were markedly different, they both embraced a designs that favored the attributes of technology.

Wow, beautiful photos of the church. I love the architecture and the stained glass windows. The shots of the organ brought back memories of my youth and singing in the choir.

How is Izzi doing lately? It is so hot here, and muggy. Not my favorite part of summer. I love the flowers and being able to be outside with no heavy coats, but I do not like the heat.

Most of the new furniture for the house came today. They will be delivering the last chair in just a little while. After that, I will fix supper for Pogo and me. I think maybe just a sandwich for me tonight. It's too hot to cook up much of a meal. I have some deli roast beef that I can share with Pogo.

Well, time for me to get busy. You have a super evening, hugs, Edna B.
