Wild Bird Wednesday

I have lived here 14 years and have never seen a Great Blue Heron in my yard ... but on this day and several other days, he has been here.  Yes, he is here to hunt something other than fish, which it had never occurred to me he would do.  But take a look ...

Well, I assume the little guy escaped, because the Heron never threw him back in his throat the way they normally do and he went about his business looking for another tasty morsel ...

After awhile, he headed back down the hill to come back another day.  We have an "ample" supply of Chipmunks, so I am thinking this is probably a good thing ... I just don't want to watch it.  Funny, it doesn't bother me when he eats fish :)

Hello Andrea, what a great series. Sad that the Heron missed his meal. But, then I am happy the chipmunk lived on to see another day. Happy Wednesday!

Oh Andrea, what wonderful photos. However, I am so glad that the little chipmunk escaped. I would not want to see him get eaten either. If my daughter Deanne still wants me to come live with them in a few years when they move, she will have to buy a house on a pond or lake so that I can enjoy all the different water fowl and birds like you get. Otherwise, I may have to buy my own little cottage on a pond in a few years. Audrey wants me to move in with her, but she is in the middle of a huge corn field. (also, soy beans, peanuts and cotton) Her driveway is more than a 1/4 mile long to get to the mail box. Not for me!!

Well, we got our new furniture yesterday, and today I ordered fifteen new replacement windows. Not sure if I'll be able to get my little porch, but I can dream, can't I?

It's getting ready to downpour or something like that. Sun has gone in and it is very gray. I'm off to finish up my dishes before DIL gets here. You and Izzi have a wonderful day, hugs, Edna B.

Oh my. What an incredible series.
And yes, I am happy that the furry one (probably) escaped. Not rational, but true.
