Sunday in the Art Room ...

Sunday in the Art Room

No Kings!

Aurora, IL
Aurora is a small community compared to the cities noted above, so the numbers were not as great, but they were respectable, committed and enthusiastic. A successful Protest!

Cars honked and people waved, showing that they supported our purpose.

The Mayor, State Senators and celebrities spoke to the crowd

This is Stephanie, the young lady who organized the protest.  The turnout was good and the enthusiasm was obvious (you had to be there).

When you get to be my age, you are never big on getting your picture taken ... But, this time there was a purpose that I believed in .

We will do it again and again until we succeed in ridding ourselves of this Jerk who thinks he should be our King ... Jerk you say?  Yes, this man who has spent months and month campaigning for a Nobel Peace Price, then turns around and starts a war with Iran without any purpose.   A man who thinks it is okay to lie about everything because we are supposed to accept everything he says as truth.  A man who has an obvious history with a man name Epstien who was jailed as a  child sex offender and has proceeded to cover up his involvement by holding back and/or redacting all of the files that have information on the case.  A man who put tarriffs on our neighbors, allies and all countries that we trade with.  These tarriffs forced up the prices on all goods in the US when he had promised to bring down the cost of living.  A man who passed and signed a "Great Big Beautiful Bill" that gave tax cuts to the rich  that he paid for with cuts in Medicaid, food assistance and Green Energy.  A man who has stacked the cabinet positions with supporters and controls what they do by demanding loyalty.  So our DOJ  has become Trumps Law enforcement and they are expected to endict all who Trump considers an enemy. He has sent his imagration army ICE (Imigration and customs enforcement) into our cities to grab up immagrants and jail them with no due process and with the intent of deporting them.   ICE members wear masks and are armed and have been responsible for several deaths while enforcing their immigration intents and several deaths in their prisons.  He has offended our allies and threatens to withdraw from NATO.  He attacked and captured the leader of Venezuela and indirectly rules their country by intimidating their current leader.  He talks of taking over Greenland and Cuba by force
I could go on and on and on, but the bottom line is, Trump has thumbed his nose at our Constitution (probably has never read it and doesn't care what it says) and he and his cronies have gutted all of the governmental departments that provide services to the people.  He has appointed a man to head Heath and Human Services who is against vaccinations while an outbreat of measals, which we had at one point eliminated in our country, spreads throuigh Texas and into other southern states.  He has eliminated the function of developing vaccines in response to diseases that could become a pandemic. This doesn't begin to cover all of the damage he has done.  Question is ...Will we ever recover from it?  It's hard to say, but if the people have a say in it ... There will be no Kings and we will function on the basis of our value systems again.  We the People ... will bring America back!

Great post. I love all of the art that tells the world we are women and we are the ones who will make the changes. Yes, and the men who support us too. Thank you for sharing with SITAR and have a nice Sunday.

I felt my blood pressure rising again while reading this, Andrea - I could have written this and you're right with everthing you're saying. I am so mad and angry and sad and constantly running out of words expressing my emotions.
Being out protesting really feels good, being together with people who have the same concerns. Yes, there was enthusiasm here as well, and while we expressed our discontent (to put it mildly), the entire protest in my city was very peaceful. All of them have so far, and I hope it stays like this. I'm always worried about some crazy person driving their truck into the crowd or something similar horrible.
We shall overcome.
