Wild Bird Wednesday

 Red Headed Woodpecker
I assume there is a nest near by because this young lady is ready to pop ... Don't recall ever seeing a bird so pregnant :)

Pickles and Ice Cream in the feeder?  Well, whatever, when was the last time you saw a woodpecker eating out of a feeder ... me either :)  She flew off and I have seen her and her mate several times since, but not in the last several days.  Busy with kids? ... I hope that's it.

Wow, what a pregnant bird that is! Glad those woodpeckers are in your ne ck of the woods and not mine. we have had so much damage to our house from the pileated woodpeckers that were around t his spring.

Great photos!
The only Red-Header Woodpeckers I've seen here were high in the treetops. Difficult to photograph - when they see me, they scoot around to the other side of the tree!
