Wild Bird Wednesday

The Wood Ducks

These beautiful Wood Ducks return to our lake every year.  The females and their babies will be seen in the channel most of the summer.   The males, however, seem to disappear :(

I love seeing them on the lake, but I just can't get used to seeing a duck sitting in my tree :)

Beautiful things.
I would welcome them where ever they chose to sit. Despite their well known incontinence.

This are among the most beautiful ducks. I have twice rescued wood ducks from my fireplace. Thank you for this post.

Those males are so handsome -- I'm sure they know they'll be welcomed home no matter how long they disappear ;>)! (I would so love to see a wood duck -- they simply elude us. We see their houses on both coasts, but just can't ever get a sighting.)

"duck" and "tree" do not seem to be a natural mix! But these are wonderful birds!

WBW 200 is planned - but I have also been caught up in getting ready for another work trip, so I have not had as much time as I would have liked!

Cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne
