Wild Bird Wednesday

This used to be our favorite walk, but because of Izzi's surgery we haven't been able to take it all summer ... finally, on this day, we did.  It was a bit disappointing (excuse me while I get political for a moment) because the state has cut so much funding from the State Parks Budget,  it has been allowed to grow over to the point where, either I can't see what we used to see and/or the birds and animals can't function in the setting and aren't coming here anymore.  Another failing part of the USA infrastructure ... our congress is useless and destructive and we are all, including the wildlife, paying the price.
This is the only Egret of any kind I have seen all summer (A Great White Egret).  We used to have  great flocks of them, not only in the state parks but in all of the water ways in the wetlands.

We do still have Great Blue Herons on the Chain of Lakes, but this in the only one we saw in the State Park.

I have hopes that the political tide is turning and we will reclaim some of what has been lost over time ... it is truly a sad state of affairs :(

Hello Andrea, I so agree with you, our Congress is useless. They need to go. I love the egret and heron shots. And I am glad Izzi was finally able to go out on a walk with you.

I love your egret photos. And, I have to agree with your thoughts on the "cut backs". It seems our government has no interest whatsoever in our nature and environment. That's sad. It's not just beautiful, but it also helps to keep our world healthy.

The gardens at the park are just gorgeous. What a beautiful place to spend a day. As for for your tree, I'm not sure if it's a birch or an aspen either. I guess you'll just have to wait to see what the Fall leaves look like.

I think your "horse" art is beautiful. I find your creativity awesome! I know, I've said it before, but you always seem to come up with another fabulous piece of digi art.

It's time now to feed Pogo, give him a bath, and then maybe a ride in the car. I like that last part best! You an Izzi have a super day. Hugs, Edna B.

Oh that is so sad. I hope the government wake up before it is too late.

Very sad. And all too familiar.
I am so very glad that Izzi can go walking again though.

Love Herons and Egrets!
Our country is in sad shape. At one of our favorite bird watching places, some idiot (local, state, federal, who knows?) sprayed herbicide along a fence to kill wild morning glory vines that were growing on it. Of course it washed down into the ponds. Very few water birds still there. And why do they think dead brown vegetation is better than pretty lively vines?

We should be in that park soon. We stop this weekend at an art festival in Wisconsin and then head over your way. So be prepared for a visit from the Queen sometime in the next week or so.

Well that is a bummer. - It's good though that you got Izzi out for a walk at least. Nice shot of the Egret.

Appliances One has to stretch the imagination to come up with appliance art.  Sorry, no photos to share this week.  I am not in the habit ...
