Wild Bird Wednesday

My house guest is actually a wild bird ...just not a free wild bird.  He would fly away in a minute if he had the chance, but he wouldn't survive with the wing injury he has.  That is why he stays with us  The American Kestrel is a migrating bird ... sensibly, they head south when it gets cold.  For that reason we have to keep him inside in the winter.  But, this week it got up into the 40's which he can tolerate, so we went for a walk in the neighborhood.  It's part of what we do to add to his quality of life.   If you look closely, you can see the little smile on his face :)

Happy WBW, Everyone!

Andrea

What a beautiful little bird. He definitely has a twinkle in his eyes. I guess he knows just how lucky he is to have someone like to care for him. I think what you do is wonderful.

We're enjoying a couple of mild days with sunshine here. Gosh, it sure feels good. If only it could stay like this till Spring!

My little guy has been hinting to me that he needs food, so I think I'll go to the kitchen and see what's for lunch. You must be getting quite anxious. Your kids should be home soon. Yeahhhhhh!

You have a super day, hugs, Edna B.

How beautiful and wonderful that you have him as your charge.

Stunning. Will his wing ever heal sufficiently for him to fly free? Or is he to be an education bird? Love what you do for him and his relatives. So very much.

What a splendid little bird - shame about the wing injury. Your changes is 'lit style' sound interesting - I have managed to get thought the 'work till you drop' stage of Jan and am now a little less rushed! (Pause for load cheering!)

What a beauty Andrea. One of the first birds that I rehabbed and released was an American Kestrel and so I am quite fond of them~
