Good Fences

The electric fence was very common in Switzerland.  Most fences were there to keep the cows form going someplace where they could get hurt.  They are all free range and their range seems to be limitless.  They are all over the mountain side and in low areas like this one.  In the Mountains, drop offs are guarded by the electric fence.   If you click to enlarge you will see that the cows all have bells on them ... if you didn't see my Saturday's Critters post, you can go to it and click on the video where you can hear the cow bells making their music.  It is pretty awesome, especially when you are climbing in the mountains and the bells are ringing all around ... from a distance so it isn't a "clanging" effect as in the video.  Enough said ... Happy Good Fences Day Everyone ...

Electric fences are still around here but not as common. Especially used for pets.

yes the farmer who has cattle where my old caravan site has an electric fence. Works well. I did love hearing the song that the bells made when the cows moved.

Those cows look well fed there and protected behind the electric fences. It's a lovely scene. I will check out the video.

Beautiful countryside. Switzerland is one of the places I would like to visit if I didn't have to fly there. :)

I loved the woodpile too ... I almost commented on it in the post, but it was not relevant to the fence so I didn't. There are woodpiles like this all over the Switzerland countryside. These are people who are not afraid to put in a hard days work. Thanks for coming by, Nora ...
