Wild Bird Wednesday

 Brave Little Souls ...

It has reached - 18 two nights in a row and has stayed in the minuses for two days.  These little birds have worked very hard to survive doing everything they know how to do to keep warm.  They are my little heroes because I can only stay out a few minutes before I know it is dangerously cold and they just endure.
  Black Capped Chickadee

  House Sparrow

  European Starling

  White Breasted Nut Hatch

 The Crows

   Female Cardinal

Red Belly Woodpecker

Gold Finch

Male Cardinal and, once again, that ominous little critter in the background

Male House Sparrow

Junco

Mourning Dove

Today the temperature is to get above zero, albeit only 5 degrees it will still feel warm.  I pray that all of Natures Creatures are able to survive such an onslaught.  I am putting my feed out at night so it will be there as soon as they get up in the morning ... I hope that helps them.  This morning I have seen the Coopers Hawk and the Red Tail out hunting ... I have ambivalent feelings about them being around my feeders, but they too need to survive.  This is hard!
Stay Warm Folks ... Happy (BRRRRR) WBW!

Lovely bird portraits! The Nuthatch is darling. We don't have the white-breasted here, just the red. I have about 9 ominous seed guzzlers in my yard at any given time. I am going broke providing them peanuts! There are two Cooper's that use my yard as a smorgasbord. It's hard to see the little guys snatched, but yes, the hawks have to eat too!

Bless you, just be careful when you go out...I got my hand in a way this morning walking the dogs, and not so smart yesterday at the bird feeders either...I stay too long. We are having seriously COLD 0' weather as well. My husby and I were saying...it is such a blessing how they were created to survive but it must be in their favor for those like us, who help them out~

They're so cute all fluffed up. It's amazing that they survive even with people feeding them.

I so hope that they survive. Gorgeous, heart warming (even in your frigid temperatures) photos. Thank you.

Beautiful photos! I love the chickadee and nuthatch! Our temps have been sub zero, too, but it's supposed to be in the 30's tomorrow.

Brave and beautiful birds .... and brave and beautiful you to go out there and take their picture, not to mention feeding them and caring for them. Stay warm and I hope all the birds and other creatures survive.

Oh your little birds look just like ours. We also have blue jays, little downy woodpeckers. crows and a Carolina wren to add to the mix, along with squirrels and chipmunks. Although I haven't seen the chipmunks lately. The Weather Channel says that there is a warming trend coming soon. I surely hope so. We are up to 21F right now. The next few days are supposed to range from 37 to 49F. Oh my, such a mini heat wave! I just can't wait for Spring to get here. The Winter drabbiness is getting to me. I found some boots size "Itty Bitty" that I might order to see if they will fit Pogo. They should also make long socks for these little guys. My floors are cold, and Pogo is very low to the floor. Well, it's time to rustle up some goodies for lunch. You and Izzi have a wonderful day and stay warm. Hugs, Edna B.
