Wild Bird Wednesday ...

The Gold Finch breed in July around the time that the Sun Flowers start turning to seed.  Sun Flower seed is their staple ... isn't it amazing how nature is arranged to benefits all of it's creatures.   I took these pictures from  my back window ... my garden is planted (both by me, the birds and squirrels) to attract and feed the bird species in our area.  This is the payoff for them and for me :)

Sorry I am late with this post.  It is one of those weeks of appointments and coffee dates, compounded by the fact that I can't draw myself away from the Olympics.  Fun and busy, my kind of life ...

Super shots of the American Goldfinch Andrea! Those last few close-ups of the male are fantastic. Oh yea, I'm with you on the Olympics too ;-) Can't tear myself away.

They know where the food is! Great yellow on both the finches and the sunflowers!

These are wonderful captures! I love how nature matched the color of the bird to the color of it's main food source!!!

In spite of the drought, they are thriving this year.
So sweet.

Andrea these photos of the finches in the sunflowers are awesome. What great captures these are. Looks like they were posing for you, and it was very nice of you to leave these seeds out. Yes the olypics are very fascinating! Hope you are having a wonderful week

What great shots of the finch. These aren't always easy to photograph. I think it's because of their color. (plus they don't like to pose for photos) What lens do you use for these shots? I just love them. You have a great night, hugs, Edna B.

These are a nice set of pictures - you have such great finches in your neck of the woods!

Don't think I was in too much danger from sharks - well thats what I tell myself anyway!
